Oh Dear!

This story is about Buster who has to fetch eggs for his grandma. It’s fun, because the story makes you guess what animal Buster will see next. The drawings in the book are pretty realistic. The lift-the-flap version is even more exciting. Some pages have one flap while others have two. My brother learns about different animals and the noises they make when I read him this book.

Ten Little Dinosaurs

IMG_9027Ten Little Dinosaurs is a part of a series of books (when I was little, I had Ten Little Princesses). Its a mystery what will happen to each dinosaur after they leave their mum in the beginning of the book. One of them ends up falling into lava!

My brother K really likes this book because its about “Da-Da-Da!” (which means dinosaur in K-Language). Its full of bright colours and loud sounds like “Stomp!” “Slurrrp!” “Grrrr!” “Caaaark!” “Sploosh!” “Snap!”.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes reading to their little brother or sister, they will love it!

The Spy Who Loved School Dinners

I finished this book at Petersyard. I love their sourdough bread!
  • The Spy Who Loved School Dinners, by Pamela Butchart
  • Number of Pages: 249
  • Cool Words: Crustaceans, Traumatic, Hygienic
  • French Words: Oui (Yes), Bonjour (Hello), Jambe (Leg), L’Ecole (School)

Izzy, Jodie, Zack and Maisie think the new girl at school is a… Spy! Mathilde is from France and everyone thinks she is an inspector, and if she doesn’t like the school it will have to shut down. They also think that she eats snails and frogs just because she is French, which is silly. Not everyone from France eats snails and frogs! Plus snails are slimy and it would be dangerous to eat frogs bottoms. What if they have poo?

It’s kind of funny because we also have a new girl in our class this year. Her name is Rosa and she is from Germany and Uganda which is amazing because I am also kind of German because my mommy grew up there.

IMG_9030 (1)My favourite part in the story is when Mathilde finally starts talking to Izzy, Zack, Jodie and Maisie because I was curious what she would say when she finally spoke! But I won’t tell you what she said, because you have to read it to find out!

I would recommend this book to grandma and daddy and anyone else who loves spy stories!

There’s A Yeti In The Playground!

I started this book at my favourite Vegan restaurant (Seeds for the Soul) where they have awesome Oat Milk Babicinos ☕️ ❤️
  • There’s a Yeti in the Playground! by Pamela Butchart
  • Number of Pages: 274
  • Cool Words: Eavesdrop, Frostbite, Rhetorical, Halt, Indefinitely
  • Cool Phrases: ‘White-Out’, ‘Foreseeable Future’, ‘Mega Worried’

This Pamela Butchart book was scarier than her others. It was about this Yeti that was taking over the playground and the four friends Maisie, Jodie, Zack and Izzy who are detectives even though they’re in primary 3!

The school feels like a real school and is a lot like mine, except that the kids don’t get in trouble for not staying at their seats in their classrooms. Mr. Webster would never let us behave like that. Also, we don’t have anyone in our class like Jodie, who knows everything. Jodie is like their Siri.

IMG_9034My favourite character in the book is Gary Petrie, because he keeps getting stuck in the recycling bin! He is really funny. Actually the whole story is funny, but at the same time its mysterious.

This is an outstanding book. I would recommend it for people that like Pamela Butchard’s other books and anyone who likes mysteries.
